“100 that give 100” campaign underway

“It’s definitely a blessing to have them here. Otherwise, I don’t know where me and my children would sleep.” These words were recently uttered by Natasha Bobar to a news reporter from WYMT television. She was describing how she and her daughters, Elizabeth and Emily, were thankful for the warm bed and hot meals provided to them by Christian Shelter for the Homeless. You see, Natasha is looking for a job that will support her little family, and the girls are both trying to maintain their status on the honor roll at school – all without a home or belongings of their own. Every day, we open our doors and reach out to those in need, and every day we find a host of hands reaching back, needing everything we have to give and more. We are currently at capacity with families who have experienced foreclosures, U.S. veterans looking for jobs, and men, women and youth who have struggled with substance abuse. Since opening in 2007, more than 1,000 people have passed through our facility, receiving food, shelter, medication assistance, counseling, life skills assistance, and job training. Happily, the majority of those whom we have served have been able to get back on their feet and move into a home or apartment because of the help they have received here. Because of our very kind and giving community, and with help from people like you, we have:

Served hundreds of meals to men, women, and children who would have otherwise gone hungry.
Helped men and women obtain the jobs and the training they needed to be able to care for themselves and their families
Taken over 700 individuals off the streets of our community and provided them shelter.
Mentored children who needed positive, Christian role-models.
Led many individuals to Christ by showing them His love and compassion.

As we look toward 2012, we see many more opportunities to touch lives, and we know that with your support, we will be able to adequately face these challenges. This is why we are extending a special invitation to you, our supporters, who are the very foundation of our existence. We are forming a dedicated group of partners and are praying for 100 individuals or organizations who will pledge to give $100 per month for the next year so that Christian Shelter for the Homeless can continue to meet the needs of our community’s most vulnerable citizens.
