10 Ways You Can Be Involved Without Writing A Check
Though consistently procuring necessary operating capital remains one of the most crucial duties embedded in the forefront of our mind, we know that there are gifts that often bless us well beyond that of a monetary donation. Here are 10 Ways You Can Be Involved Without Writing A Check:
- Join the fight against homelessness by teaming up with us on Facebook and spreading word by inviting your friends to do the same.
- Invite us to come speak to your church, civic club, business, or other organization. We have lots of interesting things to share and people really enjoy hearing about our mission and those we serve.
- Become a volunteer. We are in need of nearly every skill set administrative and office help, donation sorting, typing and letter mailing, resident transporters, and much more.
- Be a true prayer warrior for our cause. Earnest prayer is priceless in helping our ministry achieve its goals. We are also always recruiting people to participate on any one of our four committees which operate the shelterpublic relations, fundraising, finance, and personnel.
- Please remember Christian Shelter for the Homeless when ensuring your wishes during estate planning. The only reason that we exist is because someone gave.
- Donate unused or replaced housewares, clothing, furniture, and other items. We, in turn, offer these to our residents at no cost. Many who graduate are able to begin their housekeeping thanks to the donations we are able to pass along from kind members of our community.
- "Adopt" a resident or family. Consider being a big brother or big sister family for one or more of our residents or resident families. This type of relationship building and peer mentoring can truly make a life-changing impact on less fortunate individuals with seemingly limited views or options.
- Educate yourself about local homelessness. Be an advocate for our cause; tell our story. Take the opportunity to share things you know to be true about the Shelter and its mission with others whom you know and meet. Recruit others to help in our fight against poverty.
- Host a fundraiser or benefit event for our Shelter. Encourage others who have the contacts, interest, and connections to host or assist with hosting some type of event or party that will help with promoting friendship, networking, and the Shelter's good cause.
- Visit our website from time to time; keep a pulse on our revolving needs or upcoming events. You might have a contact or resource that could sincerely help positively impact the success of some of our projects, plans, and events.
